Schedule and program is subject to change. The Thursday Hands-on lab session is now FULL.

Registrants who wish to attend the Thurday lab will be placed on a wait-list and can attend if there is additional room due to future cancellations.

DAY 1 Thurs. Nov 6:

12 Noon - 12:50 pm:   Please go to the Library Blding 305, Room 440 where you can pickup your ETUG workshop name tag, enjoy some refreshments and the beautiful view of the campus.

Note: No food/drinks will be allowed in the lab.

Hands-on lab session 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm, Blding 315, Lab Rm 112

In this session, participants will explore numerous tools and techniques to organize their digital lives. The core of the session will involve applied instruction on tools like Plaxo, Google Docs, Zoho, Aptana, Vyew, DropBox, FolderShare, SkyDrive and many more.

Why do students always get to the play with the tools? Our lives are becoming infinitely more complex with information. Systems like dropbox remove the need to carry a computer around with you. You can access your information anywhere, and do it with a SSL connection.

Here are a list of some of the tools we will use during this session:

  • Google Documents: docs.google.com: Google your Documents in a secure, web-based editor!
  • Zoho Solutions: zoho.com: Organize yourself without having to install software from anywhere in the world!
  • Aptana Web Editor: aptana.com: Develop Websites using free software that works in any operating system and has 2.5Million users
  • Vyew: vyew.com: Present online for free and download your lectures!
  • DimDim: dimdim.com: Provide virtual office hours to further increase access to students (Increasing Accessability for your institution!)
  • Drop Box: getdropbox.com: What is the point of a USB stick? This site comes close to providing a solution to replace the need to carry a USB stick
  • Any Many More...

In this session, participants will get that much needed list of tips and tricks needed to keep up with technology trends. I will show you the sites that I read weekly, and show you how to sort through internet garbage. Participants are encouraged to bring a USB stick.
